Child, Adolescent, and Pediatric Psychologists:
Psychologists are trained to assess, identify, diagnose and treat psychiatric and psychological disorders, emotional and behavioral problems. Psychologists use research-supported treatments and interventions.
Specialty-trained child/adolescent or pediatric psychologists have expertise in:
child, teen, and young adult development; psychological and psychiatric disorders of young people; developmental and learning disorders of children and teens, the mental health impacts of medical disorders on children and teens; and the therapeutic treatment of children, adolescents, young adults, and the family system.
Doctoral-level psychologists:
Graduate school leading to a doctorate degree (PhD or PsyD).
National board exam certified
One year post-doctoral fellowship in their area of specialty.
State Licensure
Masters-Level Therapists (MLTs). StrongMinds’ Masters-Level Therapists have completed graduate level training in psychology, social work, or expressive therapy. Depending on their educational path, and training, they may work independently, in consultation with, or under the supervision of the psychologists in the practice.
The child and adolescent psychologists at StrongMinds obtained their graduate and postgraduate training at top academic institutions across the country, including University of Virginia, St. John’s University, Vanderbilt University, Columbia University, Harvard University, University of Louisville, and Bellevue Hospital.

Expressive Therapists:
Obtain graduate training in using creative interventions such as art, dance, and drama in order to improve the mental health and well-being of the individuals they work with. The StrongMinds expressive therapist is specialty trained in Art Therapy. She provides therapy and consultations and works in close collaboration with the psychologists.
Doctoral Graduate Students:
The graduate students at StrongMinds are enrolled in one of several competitive psychology doctoral programs in the region including Spalding University, University of Louisville and University of Kentucky. All have a strong interest and commitment to working with children, teens, and/or young adults. At StrongMinds the doctoral graduate students conduct testing, therapy, and consultations. They are under the supervision of the psychologists.
Licensed Clinical Social Workers:
The Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) at StrongMinds have extensive training and experience working with youth and families and have demonstrated knowledge and skill in using methods that have been empirically validated to improve well-being. Our social workers have earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work and are licensed by the state of KY to practice independently, due to a large amount of supervised clinical training.
